Member Bio – Dwayne Milam

Dwayne participated in the ZSCCA Cloverleaf 2015 drive this year and led an entire day of driving for
us in Lewisburg so I wanted to spotlight him for this newsletter.

Dwayne has lived in Southern West Virginia since about 1970 when his parents moved back to their
family farm. He has graduated from both Concord and Marshall University. While he has lived in different
areas of the country he has always missed the mountains and rivers of "Wild, Wonderful West Virginia".
BMW's caught his eye in the 1990’s and he always found the E30 appealing. He was on a trip to Raleigh,
NC when he decided to purchase a 1990 325is. He shortly afterwards learned about the BMW CCA and
joined on 6/24/1997. He felt that joining the club would be a good way to learn about BMW's since he only
saw one other BMW in Lewisburg back then. It was a white1991 318is. He says the same people still
own it. Over the years he had David Chenoweth install Stahl headers, take care of timing belts, wheel
bearings, lower control arms, etc. He has installed Bilstein shocks and struts, Eibach sway bars, a front
strut brace, euro 15 inch basketweave wheels, a big bore throttle body, Stromung exhaust, short throw
shifter, cold air intake and a different computer chip...not to mention all the little things that wear-out. He
works hard to keep the car looking stock, and to stay ahead of the issues that arise in a 25 year old car
with 215k miles. Dwayne is currently rebuilding the door locks and has all the parts to fix a part-time
functioning driver's window. There seem to always be something that needs done. He said that his old
E30 is the only car he’s never grown tired of driving...and after almost 20 years it's become part of the
family. I can attest that he very much enjoys driving his 325is and that with the modifications it absolutely
flys and hugs the road. After spending a solid day running behind him in my Z4 he was the perfect choice
(actually he volunteered) to lead a Cloverleaf drive. Everyone in attendance was very grateful for his
knowledge of the area and the roads. Thanks Dwayne, for everything you did that weekend!!!
